Artist Statement

My vibrant and multi-dimensional abstract paintings are driven by a deep appreciation for energy and a passion for color — both of which serve as the foundation of my creative process, regardless of medium.

The abstract compositions are a dynamic fusion of color, shape, and mark-making. Through the process of tearing, cutting, and layering, collaged tissue interacts with acrylic paint to create compelling new forms and unexpected hues.

I explore the interplay between acrylics and collaged tissue — an unconventional approach that elevates tissue from it’s traditional role as a secondary embellishment to a primary artistic element. Typically used to enhance the beauty of something else, such as wrapping a gift, tissue in my work takes on new significance, transformed through layering, transparency, and juxtaposition.

Abstraction is my way to distill personal and collective experiences — fragments of memory, emotion, and perception—into a visual language. Just as we recall moments in time as flashes of color, texture, and shape, my work seeks to capture the essence of these impressions, inviting the viewer to engage with their own interpretations and emotions.
